On March 27, 2020, Governor Baker’s office announced an agreement with the Massachusetts legislature to extend the 2019 state individual income tax filing and payment deadline from April 15, 2020 until July 15, 2020, to be consistent with the recently announced IRS deadline extension. The first quarterly payment is extended until July 15th. The second quarterly payment is also due July 15th.
Legislation will be filed in the near future to finance the extension. Any accompanying administrative changes will be implemented through the Department of Revenue. We expect more information to be available in the coming days.
