C.A.M.P. Concludes Another Successful Summer Program
Twenty years later and CAMP is still going strong.
The Careers in Accounting and Management Professions program, or CAMP, recently completed its 20th annual summer program. CAMP was founded in 1998 by the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants (MSCPA). Rick Gulman, Co-Founder of DGC, and his wife Susan began co-sponsoring C.A.M.P. in 2007.
This program gives minority high school students the opportunity to learn about accounting and other business-related professions at a weeklong camp. Campers get an inside look at what a career in accounting can provide, through classroom lectures and visits to businesses and organizations. One of the highlights of this year’s camp was a tour of Fenway Park and a meeting with Red Sox CFO Tim Zue.
“My wife and I love how CAMP provides this opportunity to minority students who would not otherwise be exposed to the endless possibilities associated with a career in accounting or business simply because of their background or environment,” Rick Gulman said. “We are amazed at the enthusiasm, passion, and engagement of the campers and counselors each time we visit with them. I have no doubt these students can have successful careers in our industry. Programs like this not only improve diversity, but also attract very motivated and resourceful talent.”
