The firms growing commercial practice expands its services to effectively serve the film industry
Woburn, MA - October 23, 2009 - DiCicco, Gulman & Company LLP (DGC), a CPA and business advisory firm specializing in the accounting and financial matters of private companies, today announced that it has incorporated a Massachusetts Film Tax Credit group into its Commercial Practice.
In recent years, Massachusetts has become a popular destination for the film industry in part due to the 2005 law that provides studios, producers and filmmakers, who either shoot at least half of their movie or spend at least half of their production budget in the Commonwealth, to be eligible for a tax credit. With the creation of the Massachusetts Film Tax Credit and the growing film presence in the State, such as Plymouth Rock Studios, a film and television digital studio complex, Massachusetts is becoming a prominent place for the film industry to work.
DGC's Commercial Practice is comprised of experienced and proficient tax and audit professionals that assist clients in properly documenting payroll and production expenses along with submitting tax and credit applications that will financially benefit various companies within the film industry. With this new service offering, CPAs at DGC can better assist production companies, advertising agencies and others who qualify for the tax credit.
"The Massachusetts film industry is becoming a large part of the State’s economic landscape, bringing in $3.6 million in taxes in just the first three years of the program and allows DGC the opportunity to share our expertise with those looking to take advantage of the film tax credit," said Lenny DiCicco, managing partner at DGC. "This newly established practice area is a gradual progression of our services. We look forward to the opportunity to offer our audit services to those studios and production houses that recognize Massachusetts as an extraordinary destination for making films, while at the same time continue to bring in revenue for the state."
